Carnival of Islam in the West
Vor etwas mehr als einer Woche wurde der erste “Carnival of Islam in the West” vorgestellt. Ich hatte vorher schon gemerkt, dass einige das vorhatten, kam aber leider nicht dazu, irgend etwas zu schreiben. Gleichzeitig hätte ich nicht gedacht, dass soviele Beiträge zusammenkommen werden.
Einige Beiträge möchte ich hier hervorheben. “The Imam’s Daughter” versucht im Aufsatz “A Reflection on Prayer, from a Mother’s Perspective” das tägliche Gebet des Muslims zu erklären.

All that time he had been listening to your words and trying to imitate a few words here and there and now finally he can put a sentence together and repeat what he learned. From this, you can see why Allah wants us to memorize Qur’an and recite Qur’an in our prayers. He wants to see what we have learned of His words and is pleased on hearing us recite the Qur’an.
Der “Kashmirische Nomade” erklärt, warum Barbara J. Stock im Aufsatz Can There Be Peace With Islam? falsch liegt:

It appears that Barbara J. Stock is not interested in placing before the reader any facts rather she is more interested in here-say and slurs.
In dieselbe Richtung geht es beim Old man on the mountain. Er untersucht speziell ein “westliches Vorurteil” über Muslime, in dem es darum geht, dass Muslime “Götzendiener” wären..
Ganz interessant und für deutsche Muslime immer mehr eine Frage der politischen Entscheidung: “Should we be Liberal or Conservative?”.
Ich hab schon eine Idee für einen hoffentlich konstruktiven Beitrag zu diesem Blog-Carnival. Der Carnival wird jeden ersten Freitag eines Monats gehalten und ist derzeit in englischer Sprache. Das heisst, dass der nächste Termin am 6. Oktober ist und somit mitten im Ramadan. Mal sehen, wieviele trotzdem allgemeine Themen wählen werden..
