Condi Rice wird ausgeladen

Dr. Condoleezza Rice wurde wieder ausgeladen, nachdem eine Moschee in Blackburn, England sie eingeladen hatte, sich ein Bild von der Moschee zu machen. Rice will not visit mosque:

The Committee at Masjid Al Hidayah Mosque on Millham Street, Blackburn, in conjunction with Muslim Scholars from Blackburn and Preston, have withdrawn their invitation to Rice to visit their mosque as part of her forthcoming tour of the region on Saturday 1 April.

This was decided after a meeting of Muslims in Blackburn on Tuesday. The organisers of the mosque told The Muslim News that some Muslims had been threatened to stay in the mosque from Fajr (morning) prayers until Rice arrived. “We decided to cancel the visit because of the safety, security of Condoleezza Rice and the dignity of the visit,” Ibrahim Master, committee member of the mosque and close associate of Jack Straw told The Muslim News.

Ich finde die Entscheidung sehr logisch, denn die Moschee wollte ursprünglich mit ihrer Einladung Frau Rice zeigen, dass Moscheen kein Ort für Terroristen ist - dann hat auch Rice (als Teil der Bush-Administration) dort nichts zu suchen!

“The reason why we invited Condoleezza Rice to the mosque was an ideal opportunity to show her that the mosque was not a source of terrorism but produces model citizens and contributes to the good of the society. By inviting her does not mean that we agree with her views. We are organising a meeting with her on Saturday at the Town Hall where we will ask her about US’s foreing policies on Iraq, Iran, Palestine and Kashmir. It was also to counter Islamophobia about mosques. ”

Zwei Dinge sind an dieser Nachricht gut:

1. Die Moschee-Vertreter haben offensichtlich der Gemeinde ihren Plan unterbreitet und um ihre Meinung gebeten. Ich hoffe, dass das öfter passiert - auch hier in Deutschland bitte!
2. Es ist sehr viel fruchtbarer, “normale” Menschen in die Moschee einzuladen als Politiker! Das soll nicht heissen, dass man nicht auch Politiker einladen kann, aber diese tendieren dazu, ihre Besuche stets zu eigenpolitischen Zwecken zu missbrauchen. Bei Frau Rice wird das allemal der Fall sein, aber sie bleibt da nicht alleine. “Normale” Menschen allerdings kommen meist aus drei Gründen in eine Moschee:
   1. Sie sind am Islam als Religion interessiert und wollen möglicherweise selbst Muslime werden
   2. Sie sind an der gesellschaftlichen Einrichtung Moschee interessiert und wollen sich umsehen und schauen, woran sie mit ihren Nachbarn (auch im grösseren Rahmen) sind. Darunter fallen auch Leute, die professionell mit Muslimen zu tun haben und die einen muslimischen Ansprechpartner suchen. Für die ist eine Einladung in eine Moschee sogar lebenserleichternd! Dazu zähle ich vermehrt Lehrer, aber auch Polizisten, Ärzte usw..
   3. Menschen, die dem Islam (und teilweise Muslimen) sehr kritisch gegenüberstehen. Das geht teilweise soweit, dass sie nur als Störenfriede bei öffentlichen Einladungen in eine Moschee auftreten - muss aber nicht. Ich habe persönlich einige erlebt, mit denen man auch konstruktiv (naja, Ergebnisse konnten wir nicht “produzieren”, aber zumindest sachlich) diskutieren konnte.

Nun sind natürlich Politiker auch “nur” Menschen, aber bei Condolezza Rice kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, nett zu sein, wenn ich weiss, dass sie eine Politik der Bedrohung und Okkupation vertritt.. Und wenn sie anfangen sollte, Guantanamo zu verteidigen oder mir zu versichern, dass der Koran nicht in eine Toilette geschmissen wurde, dann kann ich nicht für meine Taten verantwortlich gemacht werden..

Hinter dem Druck, die US-amerikanische Aussenministerin auszuladen scheinen MPACUK und “Blackburn with Darwen Stop the War Coalition” zu sein. Diese haben auch eine gemeinsame Pressemitteilung herausgebracht.

It has been presented that local people would be in support of Jack Straw’s invitation to the US Secretary of State. This decision is evidence that the bulk of the community, Muslim and otherwise, are strongly against the visit. Blackburn with Darwen Stop the War salute the committee of the mosque and extend our thanks to the community and scholars involved for their united efforts in arriving at this decision.

Equally, we salute the parents whose children attend Pleckgate High School, who have been meeting with the school authorities during the course of this week to try and convince them to follow Millham Street mosque’s lead, and withdraw the invitation to Condoleezza Rice, due to visit Friday morning. In solidarity with these actions, Blackburn with Darwen Stop the War have worked with the community to arrange a demonstration outside Pleckgate High School to coincide with Rice’s visit on Friday morning.

It has come to MPACUK’s attention that the spin being applied to the withdrawal of the invitation from the Foreign office and the Masjid Committee is that “an invasion of the Mosque was planned at Fajr time”. We can ensure the FO and the Masjid Committee that we will leave invasions to the specialists, Messers Straw and Rice.

  The very important point I miss here is the fact that it was the Hizb ut-Tahrir who withdrew the invitation to visit their mosque.
