Noch ein Grund, den Goldstone-Bericht zu lesen
Die Zeitung “The Independent” enthält einen Bericht von Catrina Stewart und David Usborne, in der es heißt, dass 42% der von Israel besetzten palästinensischen Westbank inzwischen von Siedlerstädten, -dörfern sowie deren Infrastruktur genutzt wird.
Jewish settlers, who claim a divine right to the whole of Israel, now control more than 42 per cent of the occupied West Bank, representing a powerful obstacle to the creation of a Palestinian state, a new report has revealed.
The jurisdiction of some 200 settlements, illegal under international law, cover much more of the occupied Palestinian territory than previously thought. And a large section of the land has been seized from private Palestinian landowners in defiance even of an Israeli supreme court ruling, the report said, a finding which sits uncomfortably with Israeli claims that it builds only on state land.
Der Goldstone-Bericht, den leider viel zu wenige Politiker gelesen haben und scheinbar noch weniger Medienschaffende, hatte dieses Fakt bereits vor einem Jahr bestätigt:
Paragraph 198: “According to United Nations sources, almost 40 per cent of the West Bank is now taken up by Israeli infrastructure associated with the settlements, including roads, barriers, buffer zones and military bases.”
Zurecht fragt Philip Weiss: Yes, and how much of the water? Denn, was die Wassernutzung angeht, so werden die Siedlungen und Israel selbst weitestgehend bevorzugt. Eine quantitative Studie ist mir leider aber noch nicht bekannt..
