Erst las ich den Telepolis-Artikel, und dann über einen facebook-Eintrag die Pressemitteilung des BMI. Und tatsächlich: Es war ernst gemeint: Der Innenminister Thomas de Maizière straft eine Organisation ab, da sie Menschen in Gaza hilft ((man sollte anmerken, dass die IHH in Deutschland zwar vernetzt, aber doch eine andere Organisation ist als die IHH in der Türkei)). Selbst in der Pressemitteilung betitelt das BMI die Organisation in bester “BILD”-Manier als “Hamas‑Spendenverein”, was einem schon zu denken geben sollte.

Der (englischsprachige) russische Fernsehsender RussiaToday hat eine Diskussion zwischen Norman Finkelstein und einem frühen Berater von Ariel Sharon und heutigen PR-Menschen (Ranaan Gissin) ausgestrahlt, das sich anzuschauen lohnt. Anbei die drei Videos (leider mit einigem an Werbung), aber vorweg das wichtige Zitat:

Gerade lese ich ein Interview des Deutschlandradios mit Außenminister Guido Westerwelle. Ich muss schon zugeben, das ganze wirkt surreal – nicht nur wegen der vielen “Israel ist doch unser Freund”-Bekundungen und der Unbeholfenheit, mit der auch Westerwelle versucht, das Thema “Kritik an Israel” weichzuspülen, selbst wenn es um so banale Dinge wie die illegale Siedlungspolitik geht. In der Zusammenfassung des Interviews fand ich schon die Bemerkung “Sein einziges Druckmittel: der Dialog.” herrlich. Mir ist dann noch diese Antwort Westerwelles aufgefallen:
Engels: Auch wenn derzeit der Konflikt ja mit Washington sehr deutlich ist, ist es da das richtige Signal, auch öffentliche Fototermine mit Herrn Lieberman zu machen im Sinne von “Deutschland steht immer zu Israel”?
Westerwelle: Ich glaube, es ist eine Selbstverständlichkeit. Wenn man im Nahostprozess etwas bewirken will, dann muss man mit den gewählten und legitimierten Repräsentanten eines Landes auch reden, und ich glaube auch, dass Israel eine Regierung hat, die immer wieder gerne auch in Deutschland als Gast gesehen wird. Wir hatten die israelische Regierung gerade erst zu Gast bei den offiziellen Regierungskonsultationen. Das tut dem Ganzen gut. Nicht miteinander zu reden, das wäre eine völlig falsche Konsequenz.
Wirklich? Man muss also mit gewählten Repräsentanten eines Landes reden? Wo bleibt dieser Pragmatismus eigentlich im Falle der Palästinenser?

Of course we could also ask, why the agents have to be flown in from all those countrys and with all those different passports and so on.. but when an affair stinks, it just stinks. You don’t really know, where the smell is coming from, but actually it doesn’t really matter. There is a rotten fish hidden somewhere and you won’t get the stink out unless you turned the whole location upside down.
